Class of 2012 ad space sold out!

Ad design is free, but you must supply baby pictures, school pictures, etc. Color pictures of any size may be submitted for use in the ad. The Shield highly recommends limiting quantity of photos to eight per full page; that number scaled down proportionately for smaller ads. All pictures will be scanned for digital storage and available for return by the end of January. The customer is ultimately responsible for picking up pictures.

All ads must be prepaid in full before they are accepted for design and publication. Ads will be accepted strictly on a first come, first served basis, as space in this section is limited. The deadline for reserving ads is the last day before December's holiday break, or ad space is gone, whichever comes first. In addition, all reservations and materials for ads must be submitted no later than the first Friday of school in January. Any ad for which no materials were submitted by this date may be, without notification, cancelled and your money refunded. The Shield cannot be assumed responsible for shooting photos for ads. If you purchase online, please make every effort to supply materials for your ad in person. We cannot be responsible for items lost or misplaced when sent to us through a third party, nor when the January materials submission deadline is not met.

Should you be interested in more information about an ad, please call the Hanks Journalism Department from 8:15 - 10:15 a.m. or 3:15 - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at 434-5079.

Using Digital Photos?

As a senior ad customer, you can log in with your user name and password and upload files to our web server. Here are some things to know if you want us to work with your digital files from your computer:

  • Check the pixel width. If it isn't at least 1000 pixels on its long side, it will probably not reproduce well.
  • Check the file type. It should be a JPEG or TIFF file. Other file types such as BMP or GIF are generally too low in quality.
  • We can, within reason, eliminate blemishes from scanned prints. However, underexposed or overexposed photos are very hard to bring up to acceptable quality.
  • DO NOT send us proof images stamped with a portrait studio's watermark. We can be held liable for using their property without permission.
